UK Sales Charts: Sonic Colours Ultimate Blocks Hot Wheels Unleashed from Podium Finish

FIFA 20 predictably takes number one, but what about other racing games?

The latest UK sales charts have been released by the United Kingdom's official video game retailer Chart Track. While FIFA 22 continues to reign supreme at the top spot, some unexpected titles have managed to break into the Top Ten.

However, not all racing games are created equal when it comes to chart success. In this case, Sonic Colours Ultimate has managed to secure a respectable sixth position in both the physical and digital charts. This is quite an impressive feat given that Hot Wheels Unleashed was hoping for similar results after its recent release on multiple platforms.

While some may argue that Sonic Colours' enduring popularity can be attributed partly due to nostalgia, it's clear that there remains strong demand for high-quality racing experiences across various age groups and genres. Its presence near the top of these charts serves as a reminder of this fact.

But what about other classic Sega titles? Could we see remastered versions or ports of Sonic Unleashed and Generations make their way onto modern consoles in response to fan requests?

Unfortunately, at present there appears little hope for such releases anytime soon. Despite passionate appeals from dedicated fans across social media platforms like Twitter, neither series has received any official word regarding a potential re-release on next-gen hardware.

Many gamers still hold out hope that if titles like Sonic Colours Ultimate continue to perform well commercially and critically alike then perhaps Sega might reconsider their stance on revisiting classic IPs such as Sonic Unleashed and Genersations for current-generation consoles.
